EPIRB units transmit a locating signal with an identifier serial number to monitoring satellites. The satellites then rebroadcast your unique location and identification. A homing signal also guides nearby searchers to your precise beacon location. Some of our EPIRB beacons also have marine GPS, to speed rescues.
